In it, author Guy Finley doesn’t offer any startling new spiritual insights, but instead lovingly leads us to remember and rediscover our original spiritual birthrights.

The message is that we are born with all the spiritual assets needed to combat the thoughts of fear, worry, and doubt that block our freedom. Finley makes the life lessons very reader-friendly by his colorful use of proverbs, metaphors, and especially his parables.

The story of Solomon, the wise old owl and how he handled the five golden eagles, walking in marching drill, on parade, wearing crash helmets, eye goggles and raincoats is worth the price of the book. The eagles had been tricked and had forgotten that they knew how to fly. How many of us haul around so much “stuff” that isn’t original equipment that we can’t take flight?

In his Key Lessons, Finley goes on to explain that “psychological fear”, “painful resentment “ and “anxiety” (rushing around)” are, none of them, part of our original equipment. He even uses William Shakespeare to back up his reasoning, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”.

Just as the monkeys in South America get trapped because they won’t let go of the fruit in the box, so, too, do we get trapped by anxious thoughts and feelings. We should accept and rejoice in our Self, in the present moment.

This book is step-by-step, practical spirituality. Finley advises that we learn to act on what we know is true about negative states. He then gives examples of what actions to take. i.e. Deliberately slow down your life. Refuse to ever again add to the pain of another . Find the strength to be a real “friend in need”.

The Courage to Be Free ends with this inspirational challenge. “You are not only created to change, you are free to do so anytime you choose”.

Many of you will remember author/actress Dee Wallace as Mary, the mother in the movie ET: The Extraterrestrial. In her book, Conscious Creation, Dee shares her life journey and movingly writes it as a metaphor for the movie ET. ET had been abandoned, was scared, confused and didn’t know how to get home.

Wallace claims that on some level we all feel abandoned, scared and confused-not knowing what to do to get home to the happiness we really are. She has designed this book as a specific road map to creating an abundant life, and provides specific tools to create “miraculous manifestations” in our lives.

“Women and career-how to enjoy or change a career without stressing out”. These are the words that author Marina Spence replied intuitively to the person at a conference who asked her what she spoke about. At that moment Marina realized she had found her passion, but she also realized, with the advice of a friend, that the timing should be right before you go in and proclaim, “I quit”!

This is an extraordinary book. One of the authors, John Assaraf, was a teacher in The Secret. In the Secret, millions of people were introduced to the concept of the Law of Attraction. Still this question continually comes up: “How do I apply that idea, practically and specifically, to creating success in my work and business life? In this book, Assaraf and Smith really DO provide The Answer.

John Holland is a practicing medium and spiritual teacher. In his book Power of the Soul, he explores the explosion of interest in spirituality, mediumship, metaphysics, psychic phenomena and self-help, in this century.

There is some particularly fascinating material on analyzing your dreams and some startling research on reincarnation: “Here we go again!” His true adventures, communicating with folks from the “Other Side” will give you real pause for thought. As a medium Holland claims that…”The veil between this world and the next is very thin”. It’s his belief that when you pass, your social consciousness retains all your experiences and memories from this life.

Mike Robbins uses a brilliant quote from Oscar Wilde as a title for his book on Authenticity; “Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken“. Robbins doesn’t promise a quick fix. He maintains that “authenticity is a process. It’s something that continues to evolve throughout our entire lives”.
