What is an enneagram?

According to Dr. Daniels, it’s a great gift that gets us to the core of old beliefs that are no longer of value. It’s a wonderful tool that places us on the path to liberation.

The enneagram consists of 9 fundamental personality styles. Basically, it’s the mapping of our brains and their observatory preferences. It allows us to be more aware of where we, and in turn how we can interact with our world.

Dr. Daniels went into great detail about the 9 types, which are:

  • Perfectionist/ Reformer
  • Giver/ Helper
  • Romantic/ Artist Intuitive
  • Observer/ Thinker
  • Loyalist/ Skeptic
  • Epicure/ Generalist/ Enthusiast
  • Protector/ Boss/ Leader
  • Mediator/ Peace Maker

The purpose of life is to become a more whole human being, and with the Eneagram once you identify your type you have a better understanding of your Core Adaptive Strategy and can therefore use that to shift your perception of yourself and of others. A very powerful transformational tool.

What was really interesting to learn was the 4 A’s, a way to use the Eneagram as a way to assess who and where you are, put yourself in a place of presence, and make adjustments accordingly…

  • Awareness of your type, and how it affects your thoughts, emotions, and actions
  • Acceptance of your type, and how it affects you and others. Being non-judgmental.
  • Action in developing new skills, enhancing type strengths and transmuting any “negative” behaviors when relating to others.
  • Adherence to your new plan for different ways of being.

This was truly an enlightening call!
